Team x-raid wins Baja Portalegre 2009

Baja 500 Portalegre 28th October to 1st November 2009 – Team X-Raid / Yser Racing Team driver Filipe Campos and Jaime Baptista piloting a BMW X3CC are the winners of the Baja Portalegre 2009
This win gives Filipe Campos the Iberico Trophy for 2009 and makes him the Portuguese champion for 2009 season. Additional success for Team x-riad / Yser racing finished the duo Bernardo Moniz da Maia and Joana Sotto-Mayor the Baja Portalegre at 6th place on their way to finished a successful season with a second place in the Portuguese championship.

The victory at the Baja Portalegre 2009 as well the overall win and second place at the Shamrock 2009/Rallye du Maroc by Stéphane Peterhansel and Leonid Novitskiy, finishing the rally with a huge lead of over six hours (respectively over 4 hours) to the third-placed duo Julien/Crespo on a Renault shows that Team X-Raid is well set up for the upcoming Dakar 2010. One can expect a interesting battle for the Dakar 2010 victory between Volkswagen Motorsports, team X-Raid and Team Robby Gordon Dakar which has set his sights to win and it looks like he has the truck to do it. The incredible Robby Gordon Off-Road Dakar Hummer was on display at the 2009 SEMA Show. Gordon’s H3 consists of a custom HUMMER body paired with a specially developed chassis featuring a suspension designed by him and his Off-Road team. The H3 is a tube-chassis vehicle similar to Trophy Trucks raced in the famed Baja 1000, except that it has a fully enclosed air-conditioned cockpit, including windshield and side windows. It is powered by a production-based General Motors V8 engine.The 2010 Dakar Rally starts January 1st and we’ll be sure to check in on how Gordon and his crazy carbon Hummer are doing.
