SAM 35 CC, rumors been around for a while – now it’s official: a new rally raid car is joining the competition. SAM – the three letters stand for “Saxony Automobile Manufacture”. With feedback by rally professionals and in collaboration with several technology partners the vision of Sven Knorr became reality: building the first innovative rally-raid car in compliance with the new FIA regulations for cross-country vehicles capable to compete in all rally raid events giving private teams chances to fight for one of the top ranks and keep operating cost in a feasible range. The spirit of rally raid slowly got lost with involvement of several major car companies in the past. The vehicles of this car makers are such high-tech “space-ships” operated with exorbitant budgets making rally raid racing a 2-class competition giving private operated team almost no chance for a top race result. New FIA regulations put in place to even out the competition and give the rally raid sport more depth. The complete CAD designed SAM Mercedes 35 CC vehicle is aiming at this class. The car is going through its testing program with multiple german rally champion and Dakar class winner Matthias Kahle and a street legal version is planned for the coming year.
