The father and son combination of Karl-Heinz and Quintin Sullwald in the Elegant Fuel BAT romped home in an impressive victory this weekend in the Pilansberg. The former South African Champions led from start to finish to record their first victory of the season. Friday saw the start of the event with a tough and challenging 60km Donaldson Prologue to determine start positions for the race proper on Saturday. The Sun City 400 is traditionally one of the toughest events on the Absa Off Road Championship calendar, and this year’s race on July 16 and 17 will be no different. The Pilanesberg race signals the end of a lengthy break in ABSA series proceedings for the Fifa World Cup, and the off road community will be raring to go. Team Toyo recently gained two new off-road members, Aaron Daugherty, Lucas Oil Off Road Series Pro Lite Unlimited driver and Damen Jefferies, SCORE-International Trophy Truck driver. Daugherty, from Las Vegas, Nevada, drives the Daugherty Racing 2009 Ford Ranger equipped with Toyo Open Country M/T tires. Powered by a 2.3-liter four cylinder engine pumped full of steroids, his truck competes in short course off-road racing where the equipment is hammered into submission during each event. The VW Race Touareg was the dominant car at the last Dakar Rally in South America. VW intents to continue it’s winning streak and the race car for the 2011 Dakar just completed a major r&d and testing program in the European alps. 1st Place for Leonid Novitskiy and Andreas Schulz in Rally TT Vodafone Estoril-Portimao-Marrakech 2010, the third round of the FIA Cross Country World Cup and fifth of Portuguese Championship. The Portuguese duo Filipe Campos and Jaime Baptista finished on 2nd position just six minutes behind the Russian. Filipe Campos (BMW X3CC), the only leader so far of the Rally TT Vodafone Estoril-Portimão-Marrakech, kept his first place after the fifth day of the third round of Cross Country Rally World Cup. The Porto’s driver managed to hold the more predictable attack Leonid Novitskiy (BMW X3CC) in the second stage held in Morocco (Rachidia Er/Er Rachidia, with 338.4 km) and will start tomorrow’s Erfourd stage as the fastest driver of the race organized by Automóvel Club de Portugal.

The challenge planned by Automóvel Club de Portugal (ACP) for a different race of the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies is a reality and caused enormous enthusiasm among all authorities and sponsors involved in another great international ACP organization.
