This is a SCORE Press Release – full credits on this content goes to SCORE Intl.. Post-race racer quotes: Brian Colins, #12 First in class and first vehicle overall. This was Collins’ sixth career SCORE Trophy-Truck victory –

No flats, nothing. It was just a perfect day. B.J. Baldwin (who was leading at the time) broke down and we got past him about race mile 190, I think. The truck was absolutely awesome. Billy (Goerke, my navigator) did a great job because if you would have asked me earlier today if we were going to win, I would have said ‘I don’t know, it’s going to be a long day.’ But I put a plan together, being patient, and I told Billy that’s what we were going to do and he monitored my speed all the time down the real rough sections so we didn’t have a flat or hurt our shocks and we just had a great day.

Robby Gordon, #77 Second in class and second vehicle overall.

I got a flat tire about mile marker 40 and our jacks didn’t work. I ended up getting back in the car and driving about a mile and a half on a flat tire to some locals that had a floor jack and were pitting their car. I had a breaker bar and that was our flat-tire changer. That was the only problem we had. We were 20 minutes behind (Brian Collins) at out first pit area, where we took fuel at mile 68, and I think he beat us home by about 10 minutes, so we had a good run. We didn’t have any mechanical problems. I don’t know why the impact gun and the jack didn’t work but that’s the only problem we had. I almost got crashed by (Ed) Stout, who clobbered the back of us on Zoo Road (at about race mile 93). He didn’t make it much farther than where he hit me. We were joking that he wasn’t going to go very far and it was about 10 more miles and I think he had the rear suspension ripped off of it. The course was what we expected (but) it was surprising that (Brian Collins) had the run like he had, but he does that here all the time and I had a very strong run, too, so congrats to those guys.

Historic adventure from Tijuana-Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas too honor the 40th Anniversary of the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000! Starting with festivities in the heart of Tijuana on Sat. Nov.10.2007 and a unique parade of vehicles. All of the colorful traditional pre-race ceremonies will be held in Ensenada on Sun., Nov.11.2007 and all day Monday. The green flag will drop in Ensenada on the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 13 and the last checkered flag will drop in Cabo San Lucas during the early morning of Friday, Nov. 16. 2007

In its first 39 years, the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 has started 32 times in Ensenada, three times in Mexicali (1972, 1993, 1994), twice in Tijuana (1967, 1995) once in Santo Tomas (1998) and once in Ojos Negros (1999). The legendary race has finished in Ensenada 18 times, in La Paz 17 times, in Mexicali two times (1993, 1994), once in Ojos Negros (1999) and once in Cabo San Lucas (2000).

The famous and not-so-famous have tried their hand at conquering the Baja and they have come from all walks of life. Mark Thatcher, son of Great Britian’s then-prime minister Margaret Thatcher, raced in the 1982 SCORE Baja 1000. Celebrities James Garner, Ted Nugent and the late Steve McQueen all battled the Baja in the early 1970s and many racers from other forms of motorsports crossed over to try their skills.

Among the drivers from other arenas who have tested the Baja were Indy Car racers Rick and Roger Mears, Parnelli Jones, Danny Ongias, Danny Sullivan, Jimmy Vasser, Buddy Rice, Sebastien Bourdais, Oriol Servia, Roberto Guerrero, Michel Jourdain Jr., Johnny Unser and Mike and Robbie Groff, NASCAR’s Robby Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Boris Said and Brendan Gaughan, SCCA legend Elliot Forbes-Robinson, World Rally Champion competitor Armin Schwarz, world motorcycle champions Malcolm Smith and Larry Roeseler, Motocross legends Ricky Johnson, Travis Pastrana and Jimmie Johnson (now a NASCAR champion), drag racers Don Prudhomme and Larry Minor and legendary SCORE founder and motorsports innovator Mickey Thompson. Academy Award winning actor, racer and race team owner Paul Newman raced in the 2004 event. Jesse James, of ‘Monster Garage’ fame, and Hollywood film and TV star Patrick Dempsey have both raced this classic in both 2005 and 2006.

This year’s aniversary race will commemorate the achievements of legendary desert racers like Rod Hall, Ron Bishop, Johnny Johnson, and Larry Roeseler. Hall, with a record 18 class wins (including one overall win in 1972), and Bishop are the only two racers who have competed in 39 SCORE Baja 1000 races. Hall will be a favorite in the Stock Mini class while Bishop, is once again be back where he always has–racing every year on a Motorcycle. Johnson, now retired, had 15 class wins, amazingly in eight different classes. Roeseler, has won 15 times in this race, including 12 overall wins (10 on a motorcycle). Roeseler will share driving duties again this year with seven-time SCORE Class 1 season point champion Troy Herbst. Roeseler and Herbst are the three-time defending Class 1 race winners in this race.

The Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 remains as the No. 1 target of adventurers the world over, 2007 promises to combine the best of the first 39 years into one masterful, once-in-a-lifetime event.

Robby Gordon wins Baja 1000

Robby Gordon and Andy McMillin raced a nearly flawless race over some of the roughest terrain that Baja had to offer. With a time of only 19hours and 30 minutes the Red Bull Trophy Truck piloted by Robby and Andy was the first Four Wheeled vehicle to cross the finish line in LaPaz Mexico, beating all other vehicles in the 1050.83mile course.

"We had a flawless run," said Gordon upon his arrival in Miami, Fla., at 9 a.m. Friday for this weekend's season-ending NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race.  "We had absolutely no issues and I'm really happy that Andy was able to get his first win with us, and I'm pumped that we got a win on Toyo Tires."

Congratulations to Robby on a great finish, to Andy on his first win in a Trophy Truck, and to Toyo tires for dethroning BFG after 21 years of dominance in Baja!
