Pistol Pete Breaks the news about who will ride with him at the 2011 SCORE San Felipe 250. The Pistol is teaming up with Armin Schwarz to race the San Felipe 250!
Armin Schwarz, AGM race pilot, Laughlin Desert Challenge event report: Martin Christensen and I shared the cockpit of our AGM Jimco Buggy at the Laughlin Desert Challenge (14 to 16 Jan), held in the vicinity of the buzzing town ca 120 ks south of Las Vegas. This time we drove the Buggy with the Chevy engine. And I must say: 700 American horses have a lot of steam, and the torque is just incredible. It’s like an elephant kicks you from behind. Full steam ahead: fourth place was a good start into the new season Read More→
German racing legend turn 60. Happy birthday Hans-Joachim Stuck! Nicknamed “Striezel”, the German racing driver has competed in Formula One and many other categories. He is the son of the legendary Hans Stuck. As a young boy, his father taught him driving on the Nürburgring. In 1969 he started his first ever motor race at the Nordschleife. Speaking about that day he said, “Getting to the grid was extremely exciting. All of a sudden, my wishes to become a racer came true. I just wanted to start the race and give everybody hell!” Remarkably, the following year, at just 19 years of age, he won his first 24 hours race at the wheel of a BMW 2002TI. He won there again in 1998 and 2004, too, each time with a BMW touring car.
The always friendly and funny, tall and blond Bavarian, who is living in Austria, was immediately after his birth nicknamed Striezel by his grandmother, as she claimed that the newborn baby looked like one of the famous Stollen cakes of her Saxony area. He is also nicknamed “Regenmeister” (“Rainmaster”) Read More→
At the last minute, the Belgium-based Team Overdrive has successfully enlisted the services of one of cross-country rallying’s most prominent drivers for next January’s Dakar. Spain’s Nani Roma and his French co-driver Gilles Picard have chosen to contest the event in a Nissan Navara prepared by the Villers-le- Bouillet based outfit. Roma – who followed up an outright win on the Dakar on two wheels in 2004 with third place in the car category in 2006 – is targeting a top-five finish this time round in his ‘Made in Belgium’ pick-up. There was clearly insufficient time, however, for Roma and Picard to test drive the pick-up. “We will organize a short run before the departure for Argentina,” says Jean-Marc. “In any case, the opening stages generally aren’t decisive when it comes to laying the foundations for a top result on an event such as the Dakar. Nani is a professional, just like his co-driver who, in addition to his acclaimed navigational skills, is also a first-rate mechanic. I believe the Nissan Navara 306 can reasonably target a top-five finish. Read more here at Puro Dakar.

Heat is on at Baja 1000 – Stunning action over a thousand miles: that’s the Baja 1000. On 18 November at 11:45 hrs local time the flag drops and the Baja 1000 is on! One thousand miles through the desert of the Baja California in Mexico. Everybody and everything is at the limit: the drivers, navigators, the mechanics and pit crews, all 70 members and helpers of our All German Motorsports Team. This year the route leads down from Ensenada to La Paz. So we don’t do the big Ensenada-Ensenada loop, but we go south full bore. At the speeds we go no service crew would have a chance to keep up and be at the stops in time. So more or less our entire team must be in position before our two Class One Buggies start. During the race we have to perform a few logistic tricks to be where we have to be in time. I, for example, drive the start and the first 563 miles. Then Martin takes over to bring the Buggy home in his incomparable style Read More→
Trucks, SUVs, Racing and Off-Road – SEMA show, the industry’s most comprehensive off-road trade extravaganza. To a large extent, SEMA comes from a heritage of hot rods, custom cars and high-performance engineering. Dating to the 1970s, SEMA membership has been equally active when it comes to appearance and performance equipment for the light truck and off-road segments. Taken as a whole, the Trucks, SUVs, and Off-road category makes SEMA the industry’s largest off-road trade show. Trucks, SUVs, and Off-road represents the most mainstream of the show sections. Light trucks were once considered only working vehicles; pickup trucks for farmers and contractors, vans for delivery trades and SUVs for those whose work required a vehicle that was a cross between a pickup and a van. Today, they represent approximately half of all new vehicles sold in the U.S. In fact, the Trucks, SUVs, and Off-road section Read More→
Baja 1000 course mileage notes listing the virtual checkpoints (VCP’s), speed zones (12), and other race information. We break the file down in 5 sections, you see the links on top and bottom of each page. Also keep in mind that SCORE emphasized to follow pre-running rules carefully.
