The Baja 1000 2009

In 20 days from today the biggest Off-Road desert race event in North America will begin. Desert racing motorsport race fans from all over the USA, Canada and many other locations world wide will follow this unique loop race on the northern Baja peninsula in Mexico running its 42nd anniversary event. This flagship event for SCORE Intl. will also be the final race of the 2009 SCORE Desert Championship Series and championships in several classes are up to be decided. Most noticeable the marquee division for SCORE, the Trophy-Truck class with the Trophy-Truck points leader Robby Gordon will be in the spotlight for the race observers. First of the line at at approximately 10:30 a.m Friday, Nov. 20 2009 will be Pete “Pistola” Sohren in his #2 Ford F-150 SCORE Trophy-Truck. The other off-road racers in the talented 32-truck field in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck division are #3 Mark Post, Laguna Beach, Calif./Rob MacCachren, Las Vegas (No. 3-Ford F-150), #1 B.J. Baldwin, Las Vegas (Chevy Silverado), #12 Las Vegas’ Brian Collins/Chuck Hovey, Escondido, Calif. (Dodge Ram1500),

#30 Robbie Pierce/Mike Julson, Santee, Calif. (Chevy Silverado), # 16 Cameron Steele, San Clemente, Calif./Rick Geiser, Phoenix (GMC Sierra), # 4 Mexico’s Gustavo Vildosola/Gus Vildosola Sr. (Ford F-150), # 28 Honolulu’s Alan Pflueger (Chevy Silverado), # 31 Andy McMillin/Scott McMillin, National City, Calif. (Chevy Silverado), # 19 Las Vegas’ Tim Herbst/Troy Herbst (Ford F-150), # 23 Mark McMillin, El Cajon, Calif. (Ford F-150), # 39 Ron Whitton, Mesa, Ariz. (Ford F-150), # 7 Scott Steinberger, Cypress, Calif./Dave Sykes, San Diego (Ford F-150), # 84 Nick Vanderwey, Phoenix (Chevy Silverado), # 13 Ed Stout, Irvine, Calif. (Ford F-150) and # 96 Bobby Baldwin/Danny Anderson, Las Vegas (Chevy Silverado). See the drawing positions for all classes here.

It is in question if #3 Riviera racing will start based on earlier withdrawl from the Prim 300 race. Connected to this again is the participation of Rob MacCachren to either race the #3 Riviera truck or run the #20 Mastercraft Jimco Chevy. So far we are not aware of any official statements regarding this situation. It is also announced that Nuley Racing TT#10 will skip the BAJA 1000. The preparation time between the Baja 1000 and the BITD (Best in the Desert) Henderson race is the main concern for this team to choose concentrating at the BITD race where they are in second place in the points.
