Parnelli Jones to lead Mexican 1000
Michael Noval, V.P. of N.O.R.R.A. confirms the attendance of the legendary Parnelli Jones in vehicle #1 for the upcoming revival of the Mexican 1000 rally. Noval reports that during a 30 min. phone call with Mr. Jones on August 17th. the living legend re-affirmed his participation in the rally race event with a “heck yes, I’m gonna be there, this sounds like to much fun”. Mr. Jones will be driving his 1977 Blazer pre-runner. The Mexican 1000 Rally is a fully supported 3 day special stage Off Road / On Road rally for pre 1989 vintage vehicles and motorcycles. All years of alternative fuel technology vehicles and the unique Ulysses Challenge Cup within the event. The course is fully supported throughout with full service pits planned every 50-60 miles. The rally kicks off September 16th 2009 with registration, contingency and tech inspection in Mexicali as part of their Mexican Independence Day Celebration. At September 17th the green flag will drop at 6:00 am sharp, vehicles will leave in 30 second time intervals with motorcycles starting first. Competitors will travel to the Bay of LA for the first overnight stop. Day 2 will run from the Bay of LA to Loreto. Day 3 run from Loreto finishing in La Paz the capital city of Baja California Sur.
