Mark Miller answers questions to VW TT project
Update on our “contact VW” adventure. Mark Miller did offer to answer questions and we did ask a few. We understand that this whole project has a certain “secrecy” to it but hey – McLaren-Mercedes or Ferrari, Robby Gordon Racing or Hendric Racing – they all keep “a lid on it” until race day to evtl. avoid competition to see “what’s up”! Therefore he had to refer me with the most of my questions to Clark Campell and I’m looking forward to an answer. It’s mainly technical questions. What I also pointed out to Mark was a report on a more dubious Baja Racing website writing stuff like “has reviewed the chances of the Arciero-Miller-VW Baja 1000 2008 effort“, “disappointed that the development schedule for the “Arciero-Miller, Baja Race Touareg TDI-VW ” seems forced and behind schedule“, “We are uncomfortable with the design process having so much Arciero-Miller (A-M) input. The racing team has not proven itself in any other design efforts, thus our feelings. An insider at A-M tells Baja Racing News.com, “the geometry has been forced”, “the rear suspension is not at any stability level to be happy with“.”
The publisher is wondering how this people can come up with such conclusions? Who are they to make that statements? Do the have any “insight” besides a “insider”?? Well, we asked Mark to comment on this published report and here is his reply:
That article is inaccurate in many areas. I only have to say that Don Tebbe and Trevor Harris designed the chassis and coordinated everything with Volkswagen Motorsport. They are the premier design and development team in off-road racing and they are at AMR on this long term project.
We don’t want to comment on this, just inform the racing fans that not everybody that talks also has somethings to say!!
