2011 BITD Parker 425 post-race quotes from some of the top finishers. More than 200 of North Americas best off-road racers have signed up for the 2011 running of the Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425. It was the 40th year that the city of Parker has hosted an off-road race along the Colorado River. A record breaking field of 34 Trick Trucks (equivalent of Trophy Trucks) entered that event. The starter list reads like a “who’s who” of the most renowned racers in the country. Pre-race the withdraw of the #2 Trick Truck, “Pistol” Pete Sohren, supposedly a sponsor jumped away. A bad weekend also for Robby Gordon on his fans. So far 2011 for Gordon it is 3 starts, 3 fails! Another DNF after a 3rd place qualifying, featuring the new Bud Light sponsor, at this BitD race. Also, a strong running at the beginning of the race for Andy McMillin with a less stellar outcome. O-tone / Facebook Andy McMillin: “Here’s what happened. Tied on time with Rob Mac, at mile 137 on lap 2 I missed a 90 degree right hand turn on a fast road. Instead of trying to make the turn, I drove over the berm and into what I thought was open desert. Instead it was a 15 foot ditch. The Motec in our truck says we went from 93mph to 0 in a quarter of a second. I’m sore but I’ll be fine.”Puro Off-Road was not at this race yet we had contact with several different teams along the weekend.

Jesse Jones summary: “The race went very well, we started 7th and had to fight our way through the dust. What a dusty deal out there. Then we held our position and let the race come to us. That’s what we did the entire last year and that worked out pretty well, so this year we did the same thing. The truck worked flawless, it is brand new, we build this truck for Larry Ragland last year to pre-run the Baja 1000 in it. I never sit in this truck before, jumped in it and qualified 7th and in the race all worked out pretty well”

Jesse James statement after the race: “It was awesome. We started 56th and had to work our way past traffic. I tried not to hit anybody moving forward. This truck works awesome! We been in the dust the whole first lap. After that we just pinched it. This is my second Best in the Desert Race. I run the US Hare Scramblers on a bike before. I think this BitD race here is better as SCORE. Everything. The course is marked a million times better!! But I still love Mexico! I will run the San Felipe 250 and then we see. In short course I run the full Lucas Series and both races in Crandon, Wisconsin in a Pro 2 truck with Potts Racing. I cant wait to learn from that dude”

Sam Berri: “We qualified #1, first of the line which is awesome. We done that now 9 times! Starting first here is huge, specially with the dust on the course. We had a good first lap, we fueled, everything was fine, holding the lead by 10 seconds. I started my second lap and I lost 3rd and 4th gear in my transmission. I finished the second lap in second gear only. I came in to the pits and talked with my transmission builder. It would take 1.5 hours to change the transmission. So I did the 3td lap also in second gear, losing a tie-rod halfway in that lap and got that fixed and then brought it back in. it was a tough day, there is some 140 miles per hour stuff and we been with 70mp/h on the road in second gear. I’m very proud of this car and my team. We hang in there with some of the best”
