Armin Schwarz – Bryan Lyttle confirmed in Norman Motorsports Trophy Truck
Recent rumors that Armin Schwarz, the top AGM Class 1 driver and his co-pilot Bryan Lyttle will be participating in the upcoming Vegas to Reno BitD race with Roger Norman in the Norman Motorsports trophy truck appeared after the public announcement that Larry Roessler will depart and return to his former Terrible Herbst team. Today Puro Off-Road got the official confirmation on that deal. To our knowledge this will be the first time a German pilot capable of shaking up the established trophy truck “elite” is at the start at a major off-road desert race in USA. The race course offers an entire gamut of desert racing; from fast desert floors, switchback mountain roads through the pine forests and incredible vistas high in the mountains getting closer to Northern Nevada. According to the organizer, Best in the Desert, the one and only TSCO “Vegas to Reno” August 19 2010 in Las Vegas, NV is the longest off-road desert race in the United States at 534 miles.
We have been informed that this a one race deal and Armin Schwarz and Martin Christensen still have plans of racing all SCORE races together in 2011.
A very brief Q & A with Bryan Lyttle, Armin’s co-pilot:
Puro Off-Road: What is different for you as co-pilot ??
Bryan Lyttle: For me it will be a whole new experience as I have never seen the piece of road we will be racing on, nor have I even tested in a Trophy Truck before. It will also be interesting from a navigation stand point as Armin and I will not have the additional aid of a road book as with the SCORE races.
Puro Off-Road:Is the driving sensation so different from your top Class1 AGM buggy that you need to adapt to it??
Bryan Lyttle: This is not answerable until after qualifying on Wednesday when Armin and I are in the truck for the first time.
Puro Off-Road:Is adapting to different equipment an issue?
Bryan Lyttle: Roger Norman and his crew have put together a quality race truck and from what I have seen is pretty easy to understand and use; so, I do not think adapting to their equipment will be much of an issue for us.
Puro Off-Road: Thanks for your time in answering a few questions and Armin’s permission to publish it.
