2009 Dos Mares 500
16.5.2009 – The Dos Mares 500 was – even if there are still guys out there racing – Not as good of a race as years past. This is also the case with the events on the Malecon (presentation, sponsor presence, spectators at the event) as the starting grid. It sure was not very helpful to have the race date rescheduled from the may 1st. original date after the government ordered no public events during the swine-flu outbreak-danger. I assume there were a few cancellations because of that. At the pre-race event there were about 20some vehicles until about 8:30 pm in the evening for the inspection – it was a surprise when heard about 90 cars this a.m..
As a rough guesstimate at the most 40 cars passed where we watched the race vehicles go by about 5 km out from the start. Some of them passed 2 times like the # 38 Trophy Truck / Jeffries Racing – the second time in the opposite direction since they retired not far past the point with technical problems. The word was cylinder head – gasket or crack- no details on that.
Bad news for the hard core “Testarudos” race fans – thanks for your help all – unfortunately our team geek did screw up!! Clearly operator error – the disk in the video camera got formatted wrong and all the vids are not usable….. too bad. Just another reason to go next week and attend the Pueblo Mexico 300 race from San Jose del Cabo to La Paz. Stay tuned, we will post videos after that event (if no screw up again….. – too much sun at the brain I guess…)
